Women's Care
Main ContentRobotic-Assisted Surgery
UMMC Women’s Care offers our female patients the next generation of surgical techniques with the use of robot-assisted surgery.
This minimally invasive surgery offers:
- Quicker recovery time
- Decreased pain at the time of surgery
- Shorter hospital stay (if necessary)
- Less scarring
- Minimal blood loss
- Faster return to normal activities
Using the da Vinci® robotic surgical system, our specially trained surgeons have increased dexterity and sharpened precision for improved surgical performance. With a high-powered camera, surgeons maneuver the arms of the robot while viewing a magnified, high-resolution, 3-D image. Most incisions are tiny, measuring only one to two centimeters compared to open surgery incisions that require multiple stitches and leave distinctive scarring.
Our surgeons use the da Vinci system for procedures including:
- Hysterectomy, benign or cancerous
- Radical Hysterectomy
- Lymph Node Dissections
- Myomectomy (removal of fibroids)
